Post-doc position on the assembly of lignocellulose
We seek a candidate with a Ph.D. In Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline interested in understanding the interactions between cell wall polymers including cellulose, hemicelluloses, lignin and other proteins and biopolymers, and developing an understanding of the role of these interactions on the assembly of the cell wall using model systems. The candidate should have knowledge of cell wall polymers and their interactions as well as analytical techniques including isothermal titration calorimetry, surface plasmon resonance, liquid chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance, IR spectroscopy, electron microscopy and, in particular, an extensive knowledge of electrophoresis.
Special consideration will be given to candidates who also have knowledge of microfabrication (photolithography and etching). Applicants interested in this position should address their cover letter to Prof. Jeffrey Catchmark, Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, College of Agricultural Sciences, Penn State University. Applicants should also include a complete curriculum vitae, list of 3 references and statement of research interests in their cover letter.
Anyone interested in discussing the position can contact Prof. Catchmark at jcatchmark@engr.psu.edu or 814-863-0414.
